It is important to fill our stomach when we are travelling, we can enjoy the trip to the maximum only when we have eaten the meal. However, such an important thing might turn into a bit difficult for vegetarian travelers as not every restaurant provide vegetarian foods or probably the vegetarian restaurant is not near to the tourist attraction. Hence, in hope to allow the vegetarian travelers enjoy their trip without worrying about their meal, I will introduce few vegetarian restaurants in Penang with delicious foods, affordable price and good location!

Vegetarian cannot eat sushi? That’s definitely a no answer. Sushi kitchen want to subvert everyone’s mindset, they do not add any MSG, instead they use fresh vegetables and ingredients to cook various Japanese cuisine. Their menu has a lot of choices, including noodle, fried rice, porridge, spaghetti, side dish and sushi, they even describe the ingredients being use and the way of cooking the dish on the menu. Radiant Light Fried Udon, Red Sea Udon, Enoki Fried Rice, Seaweed Fried Rice, Organic Milky Way Spaghetti, Rainbow Maki and Global Warming Maki are must try dishes!

You know they are a healthy vegetarian restaurant once you saw the name, they started their business since 2011, it is located at Penang Road. Outside of the restaurant is surrounded by greenery and the interior design looks comfortable. There are a lot of workers have lunch in the restaurant during lunch hour. They uphold their philosophy of “Cook diligently using natural ingredients”, by not adding MSG, no artificial preservatives, no artificial colors, no gluten meat, no white sugar and no white salt. Instead, they are using nutritional and healthy ingredients. Their menu is a combination of East and West, you may have rice and noodles, as well as spaghetti. If you visit the restaurant, you should try Nasi Ulam, a steamed rice dish mixed with various herbs.

Vegetarian food nowadays is different from last time where it only has one cooking style and tasted light. The food can compare with meat or fish dishes from appearance, taste and ingredient. Zen Xin Vegetarian started their business at Burmah Road since 2012 has winning their reputation through delicious dishes. Their menu mainly focuses on Chinese dishes and it is suitable for a family and friends to sit together and enjoy the foods. Bake Nyonya Fish is their signature, you will feel satisfy when you enjoy the dish with a white rice!

If you wish to try creative east and west vegetarian dishes, then you have to pay a visit to Janxden Greenlife. There menu has categorized into homemade, rice, porridge, spaghetti, side dish, dessert and beverage. The number of choices always makes you feel dizzy and wish to try every dish in one time! Here, I must introduce their broccoli porridge and pumpkin porridge, you can totally feel the attentive of chef through the richness and smoothness of the porridge. In addition, another signature dish of the restaurant is Nasi Lemak with special sambal, very tasty!

I think the price of Idealite is higher among the vegetarian restaurants I have introduced, but it is popular among the people since it has branches at Northern Malaysia, East Malaysia and Singapore. Many people think that vegetarian food  is not tasty and it can’t help us to gain balanced nutrition, however, each dish of Idealite include carbohydrate, protein, fat, vitamin, fibre, mineral and filtered water. The must try dishes in Idealite are Bak Kut Teh Rice, Thai Spaghetti, Signature Hakka Lei Cha, Japanese Hericium Salad and more!

The concept of Yi Ke Shu is a vegetarian food café, in hope to access to the market, especially the market of young adults, to let them know there are vegetarian foods other than coffee, western food and dessert. Yi Ke Shu put a lot of effort on the menu and the interior design of the restaurant to achieve the goal. They even have a corner selling handmade products and organic foods. Their signature dishes included fried tofu with sweet and sour sauce, homemade mushroom noodle, farmer’s pizza and red sauce rice. You may have a slice of yummy cake after having the meal. It is definitely worth a visit although the restaurant is far from the town area.
