1. Ali Nasi Lemak

It is located at Georgetown’s Sri Weld Food Court, one of the food store is selling the one of the Malaysia’s delicious traditional food, Nasi Lemak, which is always surrounded by many people. Every Nasi Lemak is made by steamed rice with coconut milk, anchovies and egg. The customers can choose extra ingredients such as Fried fish, Prawns and more. After adding on the sambal sauce into the Nasi Lemak, it will have spicy and delicious flavour which is difficult to describe by any words.

2. Tai Tong Restaurant

When comes to breakfast, we will not miss the Cantonese breakfast in Penang. Tai Tong Restaurant has already operating over 60 years in Penang until now. Every day in the morning, we are still able to see people bring their family to enjoy their breakfast there. Once you enter the restaurant, you can see the waiters pushing trollies which contain full of different kind of Chinese pastry to every tables of customer and recommend them.

All the Chinese pastry selling in their restaurant are self-made by Tai Tong Customer, their famous Chinese pastry is King Pao and Pot Pao. The famous dish of their cooking is Hong Tu noodle, you will see every table will have one plate of Hong Tu noodle.

3. Toh Soon Cafe

Do you still remember of having charcoal toasted bread when you were a kid? This Toh soon café is located in Lebuh Campbell, George town. It is hidden in inconspicuous alley and selling those memorable nostalgic old-style charcoal toasted bread and Hainan Coffee!

The store is not decorated by fancy and beautiful designs, but it doesn’t affect their customer coming back for the delicious local flavour of food and coffee. The hot and fresh charcoal toasted bread with add on some kaya and butter on it and paired with rich flavour Hainan coffee would be the best combination of all. Other than that, one of the must order which is Egg Toast. The well toasted bread with two fresh half-boiled egg which is awesome!

4. Roti Canai at Transfer Road

It is located at the Transfer Road’s Mamak Stall which is deeply loved by all the races and it will be fully seated every Weekend or Holidays. The main selling is The Indian Roti Canai, one of the specialties is Roti Canai mix with the self-made Curry Chicken which will be a special taste of having it. We would recommend ordering a cup of Teh Tarik to enjoy with the Roti Canai and watching the owner of making Roti Canai would be a pleasure.

5. Cecil Street Market

It is located at Cecil Street Market, Cecil Street Market is one of the combination of Market and Food court. It has a lot of delicious food in the food court. The delicious foods are Pasembur which contain of fried prawn cake, fried bean curd, cucumber silk and special sauce, or famous Kuey teow soup with duck meat or rich flavoured Curry Noodle or even Roasted Pork are able to be found in the market! Besides, Char Kuey Kak is worth to give a try too!

6. Ong Swee Hoe Chicken and Duck Drumstick Noodle

This Ong Swee Hoe Chicken and Duck Drumstick noodles are one of the favourite of our editor, and it is also a favourite local food for the locals of Penang Island. The Chicken and Duck soup noodle are having the rich flavour of Chinese herb soup, very nice texture of the chicken and duck meat and smooth noodle in it. The taste of the noodle stays in the mouth for a long time which you would love it. There will be more people when every weekend and holiday!

They also provide other choices of meat to customer, such as Chicken Drum Stick, Pork Rips, Pork Belly and more. The owner of the shop will wake up in early morning and arrive the store at 4am to prepare the food and soup, therefore the quality of the food is so delicious.

When thinking of having English Breakfast, we will not miss out the Big Ben Breakfast which located near to the Penang Botanical Garden. They are having the famous breakfast set which is Big Ben breakfast, they have special self-made sausage, ham, sunny side up, baked beans and some buttered spread bread. This is a whole combination that is shouldn’t be changed. Besides, they are selling Sandwiches and omelette egg too.

8. Kuey Teow Soup at Carnavon Street

This store owner operates this Kuey Teow Soup at Carnavon Street for 20 years and now the owner has a ranking in the world of Koey Teow Soup. At the early 20s’, the owner of Koey Teow Soup at Carnavon Street get Gold tittle of street food and even the deputy of Penang, Lim Guan Eng, is an loyal customer to this store.

This store mainly self-made fish balls with duck, pork ribs and other ingredient as a base soup. After drinking the soup and eat those delicious fish ball, meat pieces with smooth kuey teow noodles, it will be delicious. They also provide dry kuey teow which combine of black sauce and some pork lard, it will be a different kind of taste compare to the kuey teow soup.
